Thinking about rocks and stones brought up a long ago memory of saying and hearing, “sticks and stones will break my bones and names will never harm me”.
Do rocks have feelings? I have no idea since my only experience is with humans who have a variety of behaviors that show emotion. What I do believe is that stones and rocks emanate energy.
A number of books have been written on the healing qualities of specific stones. People meditate with stones while others like to look at them, keep them around without much thought because they are pretty.
When I saw the picture posted above, it reminded me of a time in my life when I painted stones with words and affirmations. Their final resting place was a prominent spot in front of my house.
When I was living in Armenia, with rocks and stones everywhere, I’d always find one or two to hold while on a walk or to keep in my pocket for a day or two. One day I found a rock that called out to me that was too big to fit in my pocket and too heavy to walk with. I took it back to where I was living and it sat on my desk for a couple of years until it was time to leave for America. To answer your question, yes, rocky returned to the states and continues to live with me.
Back to the posted picture. When I saw the words on each stone, thought each one would be great to provoke thoughts and writing. What do you think? Will you use the words or a word to kick off a journaling session not knowing how it will end? Let me know in the comments.
